Stop work when the scope changes

Stop work when the scope changes. This desk note is about a change the customer adds mid-job. It fits a business that still has one decision-maker.

Sequence

Do it in this order: pause and restate the job. Stop when the next step needs a number you do not have. Inventing the number is not a step.

The habit to drop

The expensive habit is extra work absorbed in silence. Replace it with a line on paper you can find next week.

The note is done when the new scope is written before the extra work. If a customer, a supplier, or a tax date is involved, use the real date, not a rounded one.

The "The work itself" page stays practical only while it names an owner and a next action. A change the customer adds mid-job without a next action is a wish.

A desk note. It does not predict revenue, and it is not tax, legal, or accounting advice.
